The 2016 Yosemite Half Marathon will be racing through the Bass Lake area on October 8! The race is being held by Vacation Races, an event company that hosts the only national park races. They’ve been hosting races in three of the nation’s most popular parks, Zion, Rocky Mountain, and Lake Powell, since 2012, but have hosted a number of special races to celebrate the National Park Service Centennial this year, including half marathons in the Grand Canyon, Grand Teton, Yellowstone, and more. Thanks to their incredible popularity this year, they will continue hosting a number of these races, including the Yosemite Half Marathon, in the future as well.
This year’s race is unfortunately already sold out, but registration for next year’s has already opened, so if you’re interested in running what is sure to be a beautiful race, be sure to register as soon as possible! If you are registered for the 2016 race or plan to show your support as a spectator, The Pines Resort makes a great base camp for you running getaway. You can fuel up the night before the race at Ducey’s on the Lake or relax post-run at The Pines Spa, all while enjoying all there is to do in the Bass Lake area during the fall season.
