How do you eat well when you’re going to be road-tripping or staying at a resort for a few days? Truth be told, when home, it’s rather easy to commit to healthy eating for the greater part of each day. In fact, a lot of us are –albeit self-proclaimed– expert meal preppers.

3 Ways to Eat Well When Staying at The Pines Resort
SNACK, SNACK, SNACK!
Snacking while on vacation is key to maintaining a healthy diet while on vacation. Not only will wholesome snacks provide the calories you need in order to stay energized; snacking will help keep you from overdoing it during an actual meal.
For those of us with kids, it’s especially important to have plenty of snack options. After all, what is worse than a hungry child who, without warning, decides she no longer cares for the snack she’s loved for the past month? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.
So load up before you hit the road and make any and every gas station stop necessary if you run out of snacks. Just make sure you have plenty of options all day, every day.
Oh, and drink plenty of water with those snacks! Sugary drinks and highly caffeinated drinks could have adverse effects on your diet (i.e. dehydration, unhealthy cravings…)
Prepare your own meals
Generally, vacation meals consist of 1) dining out, 2) sandwiches of some sort (probably PB&J) with chips, or 3)… dining out. After all, what other options do you have when you’re not at home or within close proximity to a stove or grill?
Well, we pride ourselves on being a “home away from home” for many, so naturally, we have the things your home would have, including:
- a fully-equipped kitchen with all-electric appliances
- basic cookware
- dishes and utensils
- all-electric appliances
- a patio grill
And don’t worry about food. The Pines Market is within walking distance of your chalet! At the market, you’ll find everything — and we mean EVERYTHING– you need in order to make a full meal (and some pretty awesome cocktails if you want).
Ducey’s Bar & Grill
Still, while ‘eating in’ is definitely a great, healthy option and will most certainly be good for your wallet, eating out once (maybe twice) a day won’t hurt. After all, you are on vacation, and who wants to spend their entire vacation cooking, washing dishes, and cleaning up messes?
Ducey’s Bar & Grill is open from 11a to 9p (10p on Fri thru Sun) and has a full menu to accommodate your cravings! And, to add icing to the cake, our food is sourced locally so you can rest assured you’ll be eating the best, fresh food possible.
If you find yourself in the mood for an incredible breakfast or opulent dinner (because… treat yo’self), Ducey’s on the Lake will gladly accommodate you.
As you can see, the possibilities are endless around here. The question is, what will you decide on?
