Are you going to like Bass Lake?
Bass Lake is a really good place to visit for anyone. Surrounding yourself with serenity and nature has undoubted benefits to your health. However, the truth is, that some will enjoy it more than the others. If you enjoy the hustle and bustle of a big city, if you depend on electronic devices … Bass Lake isn’t going to bring you joy!
When going on vacation, it is very important to prepare and understand the destination. Proper research of your destination will help to set clear expectations and avoid major disappointments.
Whom is Bass Lake good for?
Families
In a world that is increasingly connected to technology and the internet, family time has taken on a whole new meaning. Families replace picnics and weekend camping trips with movie nights and video games. But the benefits of nature to multi-generation families, families with children or even couples are more important now than ever before.
Bass Lake and its location is perfect for weekend trips, one-day outdoor adventures, and summer vacations. It is a fun destination for families of all ages and interests. It helps bring a family together, foster active lifestyles, and teach children about the importance of respecting nature.
Exposing your kids to nature encourages their curiosity. It helps them grow smarter and healthier. Kids and their parents will enjoy Bass Lake and Yosemite any time of the year. Summer brings water activities, boating, fishing and swimming. Spring and Fall are perfect for hiking, biking and nature walks. Winter brings snow fun, especially in a little higher elevations, but is also great for exploring the area.
Multi-generation Families and Couples
Here, at The Pines Resort, we are seeing thousands of guests each year. They come from all over the world. We especially love seeing multi-generation groups. We enjoy hearing their stories and their memories from Bass Lake. Many of them travelled here with their parents and grandparents and now, they are introducing their kids and grandkids to our unique destination.
Most people will tell you that more than material gifts, they enjoy the time spent together. For couples, date nights do not need to always include a movie or dinner at the same restaurant each year. Surprise your loved one with a getaway to Bass Lake and reconnect. Enjoy a day exploring the area or experience one of the local activities as a couple, followed by a romantic dinner in our signature restaurant, Ducey’s on the Lake. At the end of the day, relax by the lake and watch one of our famous sunsets or just enjoy a glass of wine in your room.
Solo Travellers
Do you enjoy travelling solo and always looking for a safe and fun getaway? Or maybe you feel overwhelmed by every day routine and just need a day or two to yourself? Look no further, Bass Lake will be good for you!
We are conveniently located just 1 hour north of Fresno and consists of a little village with cabins, two restaurants, a bar, market and a gas station. It is a safe and fun place for a solo getaway. While summers are busy, travelling during Fall and Winter comes with the benefit of being able to enjoy yourself without competing with others. It is more affordable, there is less traffic and no lines.
You can schedule some fun off-roading tours with a Sierra Nevada Motorsports , take a solo drive along the Sierra Vista Scenic Byway or just spend a day soaking in our lakefront jacuzzi. The thing is, you can do as little or as much as you want it, because you are travelling solo and there is no pressure or schedule to follow.

Writers
If you feel uninspired or perhaps overwhelmed by ideas, come to clear your head by the lake. Not only Bass Lake is one of the 10 Places to Lodge yourself in a Movie Set, but it was also named one of the best lakes in California. If you are looking for a serene place to gather your thoughts, look no further, we are just outside Yosemite National Park. From mid-November until the end of March time seems to slow down at Bass Lake. You will enjoy the peaceful ambiance and be surrounded by wildlife. It will help you sort your thoughts and get back on track.
Outdoor enthusiasts
The Sierra National Forest is known as the “land of many uses” and likewise, it is a “land of many activities.” We believe in nature’s awesome ability to rejuvenate, invigorate and connect. If you like spending your time outdoors, whether it’s hiking, biking, rock climbing or just relaxing by the lake, you will enjoy our destination.
Health enthusiasts
If you are a health enthusiast, you know that nature’s ability to rejuvenate, invigorate and connect us to what really matters is priceless. In fact, spending time in nature is one of the greatest ways to reduce (possibly eliminate) anxiety, stress, and depression. And, when you merge nature and fitness, you have a beautiful and healthy match. This is what you will find in the Sierra Nevada Mountains — specifically at The Pines Resort.
Foodie Travellers
Is food a high priority on your vacation travel list? You will be pleased with the dining options at the resort.
Both Ducey’s on the Lake and Bar & Grill offer variety of menu items, that will satisfy even the most picky eaters. Options range from the most traditional and flavorful steaks and seafood through a bountiful array of salads, breakfast bowls and signature menu items to vegetarian and kids’ friendly options.
If you like to eat not only good, but also healthy, you will enjoy the fact that all of our sauces, soups and dressings are made in house. Our Executive Chef, Johnathan Frabotta, practices “farm to table” philosophy and uses mostly local and organic ingredients.
On top of that, you will enjoy our unique decor and history. Both restaurants feature mountain lodge ambiance and their history dates back to 1941!
Corporate traveler
We highly encourage you to unplug while at Bass Lake (the fact that we are located remotely and the service is not as strong helps with that too). That way, retreating to a natural setting will allow you and your team to share ideas without the same restrictions they may feel while in the office. In other words, an off-site retreat in nature equally serves as a safe zone.
Off-site Retreats
Off-site retreats in nature are fantastic for promoting a healthy and creative work environment. They’re also great for encouraging personal growth and can prevent burn-out, which can often affect individuals working in a high pace environment.
Bass Lake will not only satisfy your need to rejuvenate and relax, but is also a great site for your business retreat or team building getaway. Next time, that you are looking for a way to your team how much you appreciate their hard work, try offering something out of the ordinary. Off-site retreat in nature is thoughtful and goes a long way toward promoting a healthy workplace environment. It can feel like a reward and show true appreciation for who your employees are and all they contribute to the workplace.
Here at The Pines Resort, we pride ourselves on space that feels like your home away from home. In this case, it’s your office away from the office sans the typical busyness. If you have a minute, check out our Group Sales offer.
Road Trippers
Bass Lake is conveniently located just 17 miles from the southern entrance to Yosemite National Park and a couple of miles away from the “exact Center of California“. Those, who plan to visit Yosemite, will find it a perfect hub for their Yosemite adventure. Those who travel through California or across the country will be able to relax and rejuvenate before their next destination.
Summary
If you are 100% extrovert and travelling to remote locations, away from the big cities sounds like a nightmare to you – Bass Lake isn’t good for you. If you enjoy the hype and rush of a popular destination like New York, LA or Vegas, well Bass Lake won’t be good for you either. As soon as you decide to escape the crowds and enjoy the great outdoors, put Bass Lake on your list. Whether you are traveling alone or with the whole family, you do not need to look for a remote island or go up in the high country, just to get closer to nature. Lucky for you we are just off the main highway, roughly three and a half an hour from San Francisco and Los Angeles.
