The Pines Resort’s management knew that 2020 would be a special year. By January, they had just received their 4th WeddingWire Couples’ Choice Award, and scheduled a record number of weddings for the year. Also, they were expected to see more international bus tours than ever before. Yes, 2020 was a special year… just not the way that they expected.
COVID-19 PANDEMIC
As a result of the covid-19 pandemic the world shut down. Travel was limited to essential only. Gathering restrictions and health concerns caused for event cancellations. As a result, The Pines Resort was forced to suspend the operation of their conference center and banquets.
As one of the biggest employers in the area, the Pines Resort had to make some tough decisions. A variety of options were considered, including closing the entire place for a part of the year. Ultimately, the owners and management unanimously decided to re-invent their operations to stay open.
COMMUNITY SUPPORT
That is when they went through a rapid trial and error process. The goal was to find the most safe, yet efficient and comfortable solution for all.
The Pines did not stop at installing sanitizing stations, implementing a two-step cleaning process, spacing guests whenever possible, closing indoor spaces and installing touch-free room entry. They wanted to help others, as well, so they were determined to provide a safe place for those who needed a mental break. That included offering their private and secluded cabins for rent, sharing helpful content with their followers, getting to know “families of Bass Lake”, or streaming events on their social media.
When resources became limited, they wanted to provide a service to the local communities and offered family meals for the low price of $40, feeding up to six people at Ducey’s on the Lake.
