Long anticipated wedding boom is here! The Pines Resort will be witnessing nearly 70 “I dos” this year. After the big shake up of the wedding industry during covid, things are starting to get back to normal. We are seeing the return of larger size weddings, as well as out of state “destination” weddings. One thing, brought by the pandemic, that seems to be staying is making wedding days more intentional. Couples are becoming experts in honoring ongoing wedding traditions, and mixing them with new trends and creative ideas.
Here are 6 Wedding Trends that we have seen so far at Bass Lake:
- Photo Booth and Photo Wall
- Dessert Bar
- Themed Weddings
- Guest Entertainment
- New take on Photo Booths
- Gifts for Guests
Keep reading to find out how couples are creating more intimate experience for all, and focusing on experiences.
#1 – PHOTO BOOTHS
While hiring a photographer is still very much “in” and the most popular option, couples are offering their guests photo walls and photo booths. This is to encourage guests to take their own, authentic pictures. Newlyweds enjoy going through those pictures after their wedding and seeing how much fun everyone had.
Many venues, like the Pines Resort, offer photo booths as a part of their services. Guests can email or text the picture to their devices, add funny stickers or use available photo props to enhance their pictures.
#2 – DESSERT BAR
After a brief popularity of the doughnut walls, dessert bars seem to be a new thing! They are a fun way to decorate the reception area, as well as an opportunity to carry on the wedding theme, while offering guests options.
From cupcakes, cookies, through brownie bites, macaroons, to candy, flavored popcorn, ice cream and more. Possibilities are truly endless.
#3 – THEMED WEDDINGS
Selecting a leading theme for your wedding sets your day apart from other weddings and creates a unique to you experience. It is also a great way to shape up your vision, and makes it easier to coordinate colors, flowers, decorations, etc. Themes also allow the couple to show their common passions and interests.
Themed weddings were always one of the trends. However, I am not talking of the nautical, boho, rustic or color themes anymore. This year, the couples make their themes bolder and more creative.
How about placing your wedding in a movie set of your favorite movie or a TV show (Bridgerton Wedding anyone?)?
You can opt-out of the typical, pale wedding colors with more bold options by throwing Moroccan Themed Wedding.
Almost every little girl wanted to be a princess at some point, why not to feel like a princess by having a Disney Themed wedding?
This is another area where possibilities are endless.
#4 – GUEST ENTERTAINMENT
As a part of creating more intimate and experience-filled day, couples are n looking for ways to entertain their guests and create the “wow” factor. Remember the trend when couple transitioned from a traditional first dance to a choreographed, jaw-dropping performance? That’s what I am talking about!
First dance is still a fun way to break the tradition. We are also seeing couples adding fog on the dancefloor to create a romantic and picturesque experience for the couple’s spotlight moment.
Some of the fun add-ons that we have seen this year are a fireworks show at the end of the reception, or more budget friendly, sparkler exit. We had couples hosting games for the guests, performing a song, or having a fire show performance.
#5 – NEW TAKE ON THE GUEST BOOK
Why sign a book, when you can sign a bean bag board game or a bench?
We have seen this trend evolving throughout the years.
A while back couples started to replace traditional guests books with thumb prints, photo frame signing, etc. Now, couples are taking this wedding tradition to a new level. They are choosing more unique and well, more practical solutions, that they get to enjoy for years to come. We have seen guests’ leaving their marks on cutting boards, Jenga blocks, wooden puzzles, or on a custom artwork.
#6 – GIFTS FOR GUESTS
“Intentional” seems to be the trending word in the wedding industry post-covid. That is also true when it comes to the wedding favors. While custom m&ms, cute Hershey kisses, candles or bubbles are still adorable and popular. We are seeing those simple favors being replaced with more practical gifts.
Some of our favorites, here at the Pines Resort were:
- tree saplings
- flip flops
- custom t-shirts
- heel covers (that is helpful, especially for an outdoor wedding!)
- ornaments
- etc.
