FALL IN BASS LAKE
Many think that the Fall season in the Sierra National Forest is a sight to behold, but is Fall really the best time to come and visit? No matter the season, any opportunity to visit Bass Lake and Yosemite is great. But to answer the question…yes, Fall is possibly the best time to visit.
For one, you will be able to avoid summer crowds. While you definitely won’t have the park or the resort completely to yourself, you will see that there are much less people this time of the year as compared to the summertime. Wait lines are shorter, there is less traffic and less people on the hiking trails.
Let’s not forget the weather. In September and October, the weather is very comfortable, usually in the low to mid 70s. Ideal to play in the great outdoors: hiking, biking, or enjoying watersports. Read more…
ACTIVITIES
Fall Season brings many events to the area. Here is what’s coming soon:
- On September 24 and 25, 2022 we are partnering with Pedal Forward Bike & Adventures Shop of Oakhurst for a Mountain Bike Workshop. There are special rates available at The Pines for those signing up for the workshop.
- On Sat. Oct. 29th join us for the 6th annual Bass Lake Fall Festival and Halloween Carnival. This is fun and family friendly alternative to a traditional trick or treating.
- The same weekend, we will be hosting Pines Village Arts & Crafts fair when we feature custom work by our local artists and vendors.
- The Traditional Thanksgiving Buffet returns to Ducey’s on the Lake on November 24th.
- Saturday, November 26th is the 31st Annual Bass Lake Christmas Tree Lighting & Parade of Lights
YOSEMITE
This summer Yosemite area was affected by multiple fires that caused temporary closures to some of the areas of the Park. Many feared that we will be losing the ancient sequoias, as this time the famous Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias were directly threatened by the Washburn Fire.
Luckily, all the recent fires in Yosemite are fully contained, and none of the famous giant trees were lost. The shuttle is operating again, so make sure to check the schedule if you are planning to visit the grove this season.
As of now, starting on October 1st you no longer need to make advance reservations to enter the park. The reservation system that was put in place earlier this year to better manage the traffic in the park, will expire on September 30th and as of now, there are no plans to extend it. Glacier Park is also closed. There is some maintenance work scheduled for the Mist Trail in Yosemite Valley so it’ll be temporarily closed to visitors. Visit NPS.gov website to learn more details.

YOGA
Here, at the Pines Resort, we emphasize the importance of self-care and nurturing the mental health. One of the best ways to do that is to practice yoga. It incorporates meditation, breathing and balance. Practicing yoga creates mental clarity and calmness. Yoga by the Lake is offered on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 7:30am. It is open to guests, as well as to the community. The dates, times, and location is subject to change due to the change of weather.
“Yoga is really more than just postures, it’s about personal development. It starts to integrate into your life and becomes useful off the mat,” says Katrina. “It helps your immune system and it helps to take everything out of your life to just focus on your life and yourself and to tune back into what’s going on with you. And the postures are working to re-correct any misalignments that are happening in your body.”
It isn’t just for exercise enthusiasts, but for anyone who wants to try it, and everyone from all walks of life can feel the same mental and physical benefits of taking part in the exercise.
“It’s a great way to start your day. It’s going to energize you. It’s going to help get the blood flowing, and get your breathing to get you stoked for whatever you got going on in your day.” mentions Katrina.
We hope to see you at the Lake!
