There’s going to be festive lights and decorations everywhere, a float parade for everyone to witness in the parking lot in front of The Pines Market, with classic holiday jingle music playing, and the big guy himself Santa Claus will be there and you can take pictures with him as well. Or you can come support local artists and vendors and browse around the Pines Village Arts & Crafts Fair and pick out some homemade items that’ll make for a great gift this holiday season. The event is free admission.
In addition, kids can drop off a Letter to Santa (details coming soon..) and everyone is encouraged to participate in the Holiday Fundraiser with Prizes. In exchange for a donation to the Valley Children’s Healthcare Foundation you will have an opportunity to win a 3-night stay in the Granite Ridge Villa!

BEARS OF BASS LAKE
If you visited Bass Lake within the last couple of months, you may have noticed an increased bear activity in the area.
If you spot a bear in the Central Sierra around Bass Lake or Yosemite, it is an American Black Bear not a brown or grizzly. Most black bears are not actually black but brown or even reddish brown in color. This sometimes leads to confusion for visitors to the area. Despite being on the California state flag, Grizzly bears have not been found in California for almost a hundred years. Black Bears have fared much better and are a common sight in the area. WEATHER/LAKE UPDATE
The temperature has dropped. There’s been a lot of rain and some snow. The water levels are low during this season. There may be a lack of activity on the water, but there’s more than enough when it comes to seeing the view of Bass lake, whether it be from your suite or from Ducey’s. With assistance from the rain and the gushing waterfalls nearby it’ll help raise the water level a little bit.
YOSEMITE UPDATE
These roads to Yosemite are closed, Tioga Road, Glacier Point Road had been closed since April. A portion of the road to Badger Pass will be open of winter of 2022-2023 when the ski area is open. Typically, it opens in mid-December and operates all the way till March. Badger Pass is a place where you can ski, snowboard tube, rent cross country skis or snow shoes.
